a. Issue One: Beth Barnett.

I work from my photographs to reinterpret and preserve the beauty of captured places/moments into paintings. I look for resonance of color, composition, and contrast in the world around me, always on the hunt for moments of aesthetic serendipity. Beauty exists in the natural world, but also in the world constructed by humans, and in the intersection of the natural and artificial. It can appear in unlikely places, or through the random alignment of elements - light, colors, clouds, rock formations, buildings, objects. By painting pieces of my world, I reexamine these captured moments of "found" beauty, enhance them, and share them with others.
